Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Al-AttiyahMinister of State for International Cooperation

In 2008, Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Al-Attiyah was appointed Minister of State for International Cooperation. Minister Al-Attiyah is responsible for representing Qatar to the global community by providing aid to international organizations and monitoring international decision-making process. In June 2009, His Highness the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani issued an Emiri Order further assigning the Minister of State for International Cooperation the tasks of the Minister of Business and Trade. Pursuant to his new role Minister Al-Attiyah supports various economic developments within the private sector ensuring that Qatar is capable of trading in the global economy.

Minister Al-Attiyah earned two bachelor's degrees; the first one in Air Science from King Faisal Air Academic in 1987, and the second one in law from Beirut Arab University in 1993.

He established a private legal practice in 1995 called Khalid bin Mohamed Al-Attiyah Firm for Legal Consultations and Services. With a distinguished background and career in law, Minister Al-Attiyah furthered his education by earning a Master's degree in Public Law in 1999 and a Doctorate in Law in 2006 from Cairo University. Dr. Al-Attiyah also trained as a fighter pilot and served with Qatar's Emiri Air Force for more than five years.

Before his appointment as Minister of State for International Cooperation, Dr. Al-Attiyah was a very active member of Qatari public life. From 2003 until 2008 he served as the President of the National Committee for Human Rights. Al-Attiyah was elected as a member of Silatech's Board of Directors in 2009.
