What is Silatech
Silatech is an innovative social enterprise, created to meet the urgent need to generate new jobs and opportunities for young people starting first in the Arab world, where the challenge is at its most severe globally.
The word Silatech (Your Connection) comes from the Arabic word Silah, meaning connection and this concept defines what we do at every level. Silatech is an enterprise with a global mandate, organic to its region of focus and committed to using the most advanced global approaches to addressing the many challenges facing young people across the region.
As a not-for-profit social enterprise, Silatech has created novel connections with the private sector, creating a commercial incentive for global businesses to address the challenge of youth employment while also being able to explore new markets.
Silatech was founded by HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar and his wife HH Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned. Since its inception, it has grown into an institution that enjoys broad support for its work from companies, foundations, individuals, governments and academic institutions globally and across the MENA region.
Silatech has developed a range of projects that seek to address the issue of youth employment on three key levels: Policy, Mindset and Access. Across these pillars, Silatech promotes large-scale job creation, entrepreneurship, and access to capital and markets for young people.
